A Special Day in History

I was born on April 25,1984. My birthplace is located in a small town called Cutzamala de Pinzon, Mexico. Not many events took place on such small town, however, several interesting and frightening ones took place that day around the world. I was born at a clinic and unlike many of the U.S hospitals my mother did not have the luxury of television, radio, or any other type of entertainment there. However, at home there was a small radio and my sister recalled  going home from the hospital and playing music from a famous Mexican singer. His name is Marco Antonio Solis.

Marco Antonio Solis's songs were not only playing the day I was born but I also found out I was named after him. Before I was born my sister convinced my mother to name me after him. He composed and sang his own songs he created. He was part of a band called Los Bukis. The band's most famous songs, “Yo te necesito” was written in 1982 and was nominated for a Grammy in 1984.

Another event that happened on April 25, 1984 was the publishing of a survey from The Times. It ranked Dallas 49th out of 277 U.S cities “safest places to live”(The Times, 1984). The survey took in consideration the mortality rate, average house income, crime rate and several other facts. The survey was conducted from the State University of New York. The number one ranked was Greensboro, NC and the worst place to live was Fresno, California.

At this time on the other side of the world, the United Kingdom announced an induction to a coinless parking. The coinless metering system was going to allow users to park in a meter without using coins, many of the people found coins to be very inconvenient. The card readers was going to replace the coin system helping with the theft toward the meters. In addition, local businesses were going to have the ability to sale the card to users.

An interesting and exiting event that occurred the day of my birthday was that The Dallas Mavericks won a playoff game against the Seattle Supersonics (The Dallas Morning News, 1984). This victory tied the playoff game and the Mavericks ended up winning the series. On this year the Mavericks ranked 3rd in the Midwest Division. Their record was 44 Wins and 38 losses. Unfortunately, they lost to the Lakers  in the next series which eliminated them from the playoffs.

The day I was born not only involved important events happing in history but also frightening ones. One frightening event that occurred the day I was born was an earthquake. The earthquake occurred in San Francisco, California. Its estimated damage was 10 million! The registered magnitude of the earthquake was 6.2 on the Richter scale.

The date I was born involved many events in history. Even though I was born on a tiny town in Mexico and not many activities took place there, several interesting things did happened in other parts of the world. For example, the Dallas Mavericks winning a playoff game, the publishing of the survey announcing Dallas as one of the safest cities, the United Kingdom introducing a coinless parking, the devastating earthquake in California. All of these events happening in one day!

Google News More Appealing than Huffington Post

Google News and Huffington Post are great News aggregators, since they both publish information from entertainment, sports, politics, and more. However, Google’s News provides information in an organized manner, this area is located on the upper left side of the web page. The topics are organized from the top of the screen to the bottom. Huffington’s post has a drop down menu that is not appealing when you visit the page. The page also has text that is going across it.

When I compare Google News with Huffington Post, Google seems to be more organized. The topics are on the left side of the screen and the top story is located on the main page.

Huffington Post main story is on the front of the page, so if you accidentally click on one of the topics of the page, the main story will be covered with a drop down menu. This creates a distraction in the page and will cause users to leave the page.

Google News provides information on local issues, which I think it’s important to keep users coming to your page again. Having local news available it’s important because people need to be aware of what’s happening in their area.

On the other hand, Huffington Post does not have local news available instead it has Regional and National News. Also, the page makes it difficult to click on the actual tap because if you don’t click on the right spot you automatically get a drop down from a different subject.

The drop down on Huffington Post are distracting, if the curser moves over a subject the main story is covered with new information. The drop down has a large font and once it is down there are two columns of information to choose from. Huffington’s Post “floods” the page with pictures to make the web page seem entertaining, but instead I believe it creates too busy and less professional.
Google avoids drop down, instead they create an arrow that allows you to click on it, and this arrow is optional. After clicking on the arrow there is a brief description of the topic.

Google News web page is more appealing and looks more professional. The way their page is organized enables their users to choose their main topic without confusion. The web page is well organized and does not have drop down menus, which can distract users from focusing on the main use of the mage. Huffington’s Post page is disorganized and is full of pictures that can distract users.

Rising Star on You Tube

Zoella successful popularity on You Tube is due to her comical videos. There is some beauty advice she gives on her videos, but the most popular videos are the ones in which she is with a partner, making jokes, and playing games. She partners up with someone else in her videos to make funny jokes and in other videos if someone answers the question incorrectly, the loser get’s his face smashed with wipe cream.

Her videos are popular because most girls don’t joke around with other people on camera. Most girls will give advice on how to do make up or on how to dress for a special occasion. She seems to be confident about her self and is not afraid to be embarrassed. She exposes her personal knowledge with her friends and teenagers love watching other people get the wrong answer.

The Internet has enabled her to be viewed by millions. She did not have to pay thousands of dollars to have a reality show or pay advertisement to be views. I believe that her popularity would have not been possible without You Tube. You Tube is an open door to everyone with an Internet connection to post anything they want. You Tube successful views is due to teenagers audience, teenagers are on their phone more often then adults, which brings You Tube views high. You Tube free uploading makes it possible for anyone to upload something without being charged a service fee.

“Why computers won’t be replacing you just yet” Response

Computers have the ability to perform many tasks, such as, algorithm calculations, and more things than one could have ever imagined. However, they cannot predict humans’ unpredictable minds. So the only way to find out about human likes and dislikes is through social media. Social media has brought people together from parts of all over the world. Companies who market their products want to take advantage of social media. Therefore, they analyze computer data and target people who are using social media the most. The disadvantage is that people move from one subject to the next quickly. Social media is like your everyday News Network; the most current event is unpredictable. Computers may be able to analyze words but they wouldn’t be able to predict human behavior. For example, computer data cannot predict which tweet will be retweeted the most. I believe computers cannot predict information because it simply depends on the emotions, and popularity humans have toward the tweet.

Assignment One

How often we forget to dedicate ourselves to that which truly matters! We forget that we are children of God.

The tweet is powerful to me because I believe people are losing fate, people are caught up in a busy life style and fail to appreciate life.

Esto es lo mas cercano al cielo! Tocar con mi querido amigo ! Mágica foto tomada...

The translation of this tweet is that the closes he(Mana) is to heaven is by playing side by side with is friend Carlos Santana. I find this tweet interesting because these two musicians create music that is unforgettable.

Jose says tomorrow the FA Cup becomes the most important competition because that is our next game.

I find this tweet interesting because players don't have to rely on news publications or media. The players or team simply tweet to what is the next objective.
